Original Vintersoll design by Jennifer Steingass
The teal will be the main color. I have an extra hank of Solstice DK, and I can dye it any color I want! (Mwah-ha-ha!)
I wanted this rust to work, but the color values are too close. Although if I used the cream for the motifs, it might be fine.
Eggplant would work.
If the brown were a little darker, it would work. I really like the brown.
This could work, and I would probably choose this if I wanted to use a variegated yarn. But –admitting to a knitting quirk — I don’t like to mix fiber content. I’d prefer to dye the Solstice DK.
The light gray surprised me. It would work.
Same with the organic walnut.

This is my favorite part of knitting. It’s why I have so many projects on my list! If you look at the projects on Ravelry for this design, you’ll see all sorts of gorgeous combinations!
My vote is Light grey is the winner for me, both in the colour and b&w it looks the nicest combo, it will really make the blue shine out whereas the brown competes quite heavily with it.

I think I like the walnut best next to the cream. I agree the brown looks too heavy.

First choice rust – I understand what you are saying about the lack of contrast of value, but the contrast of color compensates. Personally, I like the weight of the brown, especially after looking at all those Ravelry examples. And I’m not a fan of eggplant (as a color – I love it on pizza!), but it looks good in your photo. (oops – thunder! Guess I’d better not keep sitting outside with my computer!)

I definitely think the bottom two would be the best. I have never thought to look at this in terms of colour values before – thank you for the inspiration!

I love the walnut!

My favorite is the eggplant as the third color with the teal and cream. I think a darker brown would look nice too but the eggplant is better.

I like the light gray best! Most of the combinations are pretty, but I think that is the prettiest.
