Sewing

I finished the bedroom curtains. Each window is a different height so each pair had to be a different length. It took me a couple of tries to make sure the pairs matched each other… well, were close enough not to bother me.
I was curious why we use curtains to connote an end of something, and grammarist.com says, “The idiom it’s curtains for you is taken from the fact that the final stage direction in many plays is simply the word ‘curtain’ meaning it is time to draw the curtain and end the play.”
One more pair of curtains for the living room, and then it’s curtains for sewing curtains!
Knitting

I’ve made a good start on the second TransPride sock. Background art by Sydney, one of our delightful children. I think I’m going to frame them and hang them over our TV (the art, not the socks, which will go on another kid’s feet).
I’ve finished knitting the main part of my Shetland Tweed Throw, but I need to knit the i-cord edge. I had to order new double pointed needles for it. I’m also making progress on Franca.
Design
I’m taking a video class on writing knitting patterns. I’ve also checked out a few books at the library by the teacher. If I feel like this was worth my time and money, I will link it later.
This has been a Year of Projects Update. You can read my original list here. You can find out more about the group here.
Today is our Blogville Knitters Virtual Knit at 1PM Eastern. If you are new and would like to join us by Skype, please DM your Skype ID to me on Instagram or Ravelry.
ha – I love the idea of hanging socks over the fireplace, but I guess artwork is nice too 😉
Your curtains look great! I’m glad you were able to make it work

That artwork will be great to frame and hang. It will also make the artist so proud that you thought that much of it.

Wow. I’m impressed. Writing patterns. I’m not creative enough to make patterns. But I sure appreciate a good pattern writer. I’m currently making my own chart so that as I increase I can keep track of how many stitches I should have. I appreciate it when patterns include such charts.

That is good advice! I’m knitting Franca right now, and all the top down increases are written on a chart. I am really appreciative of it.

Well done on the curtains. I’m sure the art will look lovely…I’m so tired today I definitely read it as you hanging socks which too would have been fine. Sorry I missed the call. Sooo sleepy.

Your curtains look great! My kitchen has 3 valances that each are a different size because the windows are different.

How interesting that every window, in the same room, is a different height!
Love the socks and the art, you are really moving on these socks! It seems like no time at all has passed since you started them.

The art appears to match the socks! Coincidence or not – wow for both. Lovely art, good progress.

Every time I see a picture of those socks in progress I’m smitten all over again. The colors in that yarn are really gorgeous together.

Your curtains turned out so pretty. I should make some. I’ve been using napkins and tea towels with cafe curtain clips. The socks are so cool! Your childrens artwork is definitely frame worthy!
You rother projects sound itneresting and esepcially the class for writing knitting patterns. I hope it is what you expected and more! Have a great week!

The curtains look great! Having all the windows different heights makes that a real challenge, but they look just wonderful! Also the Trans Pride socks are looking great – you are making a lot of progress on them!

Making your own curtains saves so much money! I had to make all of ours, even getting them from JCPenneys would have cost several thousand dollars 😳, and that was 20 years ago! I cringe to think what it would be now. (Not a standard sized window in our house!) You have had a productive week, lots of pretty knitting there, along with the curtains.

I admire how you have art up on your walls. I want a blackout curtain for our bedroom. I dislike being woken up by the light in the morning.

The artwork seems the same colourway as the transsocks. Coincidence? Well done on the curtains, I still walk into my bedroom and seeing my homemade curtains feel great pride!
