I updated my list today. I think June is when the Year of Projects (YOP) group starts over, but as I update my list as I go, there won’t be much to change.
Fiber Art
I’m excited to say I have seven completed wool felt pieces for my show. I hope to finish three more before the opening in September. Bob and I visited the gallery yesterday, and we chatted with the owner. I will send him my current list of pieces tomorrow. This is my first solo show in nine years, and my first solo gallery show, although in 2010 I had a combined gallery show with another artist. I’m really happy I asked for this opportunity.
Knitting
I’m focusing on my Milkshake Cardigan, but there’s not much progress since yesterday. Here are two photos of yarn I purchased for projects not yet added to my YOP list. 😁
Sewing
This morning I started working on my Emerson shorts in natural linen I cut out two years ago. It will be good to get those finished, and it will be nice to be able to wear them. I can tell it’s going to be a hot summer.
Gardening
I think I’ve finally got the garden about where I want it. I planted some cosmos, tansy, oregano, lavender, and creeping thyme this morning. I am trying some short and dirty wool clippings around the transplants. I found slugs all over the baby kale this morning.
My one and only New Year’s Resolution was to listen to more music with intention. Bob and I watched The Leftovers, and Iris Dement’s “Let the Mystery Be” was used for the intro at various times. I’m an Iris Dement fan, but I hadn’t listened to her music in a long time. So I spent a week or two just listening to her music, singing along in the car.

My stepson dropped off a bunch for flowers he started so I’ll be planting this evening. Our weather has been all over the place with hot, then cold, then hot, then cold with lots of rain thrown in. Hence my gardening is way behind this year. Congrats on having a show in Sept. What all will be featured in your show?

Those yarns are scrumptious! I love the Tansy color! Your garden is really lovely. Good luck with your show! How wonderful is that?!?! You’re famous! I am a big fan of Iris Dement too from years ago when she first came out. If I remember she was a sales clerk at Walmart! I really haven’t heard her in years. Thank you! Have a great week!

Gardening is hard work, almost as hard as farming. Container gardens make nice tiered gardens, and you can make them on your deck!

The gardens look wonderful. The wool is a pest deterrent? I would imagine if it has all the natural lanolin and such, it would smell of sheep. I would put my boys hair around my plants. Now they don’t let me anywhere near their heads!

I had a look at your updated list and you have so many FOs and I think you are doing Jan-Dec and not Jul-Jun?! You have achieved so many lovely things. Your garden is looking fabulous. My baby kale is in the greenhouse in a tub with copper tape stuck around it to keep the slugs and snails out. Gardening is a battle against the bugs for sure. I’ve been drafting my end of year post for the end of the month and am running out of time for some last minute FOs before the new year starts in July. It’s good having members of the group on different schedules.

Your garden is lovely. I love the bee and herb rockery. I have planted lots of bee and hummingbird and butterfly plants in pots on my deck. It just makes me feel so good to see them collecting the nectar. The colour of those yarns is amazing – it will be beautiful.
