Sewing

I’ve got a good start on my Casual Cotton Pants. Right now I’m waiting on a matching zipper to arrive to sew the fly. I had a gray zipper that was too light, and a black zipper that was too dark. I could have tried to make do, but zippers are under $2 and I know I will use those other zippers some day. Normally I serge the seams, but in the interest of being able to alter these should I lose any more weight, I decided to serge the edges of the waistband pieces and stitch them together. They will be easier to unpick that way.
Knitting

Clue 3 dropped on Who Ya Gonna Shawl? but I’m still knitting Clue 1. I love these colors together. I’m not sure I’m knitting the stitches correctly, and they don’t look like the spoiler pic. It may be because I chose a dark contrast color instead of a light one. Ultimately, I don’t think it really matters. Ghosts or Galaga? Who cares, right? I’ll keep working on this as the mood strikes. I honestly don’t know how people keep up with mystery knitalongs like this. There are some fast knitters out there!
I’m a little down on knitting right now. After finishing Arrowhead (which I ironically call “my opus” to myself) I guess I need a little break. I’ve been thinking about picking up a long languishing project, or even casting on something new from stash. Or, I might spin for a while.
Have a great week, YOPpers! Sorry not sorry about the title. Bob and I watched Weird: the Al Yankovic Story last week and I can’t stop thinking about it.
This has been a Year of Projects update. You can read my updated project list at this link. You can find out more about the group on Ravelry.
Those are great colors in your shawl. It will go great with your new pants. Totally agree about MKALS. I can’t keep up. I’m not even good about KALS. I’ll just dance to my own drummer starting and finishing when it suits me.

Those pants are going to be wear-everywhere – great color/fabric choice on those. Enjoy whatever suits your mood, I say! (Shipping your book out this morning…)

Who Ya Gonna Shawl – too awesome a name and looking forward to see how it develops – awesome yarn colors!

I love the colors on the shawl! But I agree about the KAL timing thing. I don’t know how people keep up with the big KAL projects, either. I’ve tried a few, and the only ones I’ve been able to keep up with either had generous amounts of time between clues, or I didn’t do ANYTHING else except knit on the KAL project. It’s exhausting for me.

Love the pink and black combo in your knitting! At least by lagging behind far enough on an MKAL, the mystery will soon cease to exist, and you know what you’re knitting, haha… Hope the shawl turns out well.

Those pants look sturdy! I think you’re smart about not serging the seams…in case!
The mystery KAL is so pretty. I love the bright colors. You are not alone when it comes to KALs, SALs, CAL’s etc. I’m not a joiner anyway so it’s rare that I do but when I do I almost always fall behind.
You might want to try something different to cleanse your knitting palate. So you crochet? Embroider? Quilt? Wool applique? rug hooking? Just a few ideas….lol!
No matter what you do it will be beautiful!

I’ve recently been thinking ‘should I find a KAL to join?’. But then I tremendously I have chronic startitis and wouldn’t be doing myself any favours. Plus, my favourites list is already long enough for several lifetimes.
LOVE the shawl colours, the green and pink are having a very animated conversion with each other.

Great looking projects. Your title had me singing Queen with incorrect lyrics while reading.

Your pants look great, and so does your Who Ya Gonna Shawl! Your colors are gorgeous – very 80’s and they look great with the patterns. And I love the title 🙂
